True to Mahindra Satyam's philosophies, when the company identified a gap between technologies, it went to work to solve it. During a recent integration project with a medium-sized company, Senior Solution Architect Anurag Bhatnagar used his deep knowledge of Microsoft technologies and the Microsoft partner ecosystem to build a custom User Interface (UI) for SharePoint Online and introduced Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities into this cloud-based collaboration and content management subscription service.

"Our customer needed a portal for their sales team to update the status of sales targets and actuals for each quarter, including a sales dashboard for management to track each sales associates' progress," said Anurag Bhatnagar, senior Solution Architect at Mahindra Satyam. "Using Infragistics Silverlight UI components to develop a front-end Business Intelligence dashboard, our innovative solution enabled our customer to leverage the benefits of the cloud and fulfill their business goals."

Although, SharePoint Online is built on top of SharePoint 2007, it does not allow server-side customization. To overcome this limitation, Mr. Bhatnagar employed Infragistics Silverlight xamWebChart and
xamTileView controls to develop rich, unique and relevant end user experiences.

"Mahindra Satyam has been an Infragistics customer for many years and we knew that their UI toolsets would help us to bridge this technology gap," noted Mr. Bhatnagar. "Instead of building a Business Intelligence dashboard application from scratch, we turned to Infragistics UI controls and saved countless development hours."

As a Microsoft ecosystem partner, Infragistics provides value above and beyond what is available 'in the box'. In this case, the xamWebChart, a rich, animated component that displays business data cleanly and clearly and the xamTileView, a dynamic set of content panes providing high-fidelity experiences, enabled Mahindra Satyam to fulfill a business need and create one of the first solutions to incorporate BI capabilities into SharePoint Online.
