The Situation
New Age Solution was recently retained by MDI, a provider of healthcare analysis, management and risk-assessment software, to develop a healthcare management business intelligence application that provided MDI customers – self-funded employers and government agencies – with real-time access to medical data in a visually-appealing and easy-to-understand graphical format.
With expertise in Microsoft Silverlight, New Age Solution knew that developing a business intelligence application on the Silverlight platform inherently enabled engaging and interactive user experiences for the Web, desktop, and mobile applications. The Company then evaluated how best to visualize large quantities of information that is both meaningful and actionable – and turned to Infragistics NetAdvantage for Silverlight Data Visualization.
"We needed a way in which to graphically display patient data over a period of time and considered developing a 'timeline' user interface control in-house although were unable to justify the costs and resources required," said Henry Lee, president and founder of New Age Solution. The Solution
NetAdvantage for Silverlight Data Visualization, launched in early 2009, is a complete collection of data visualization-focused UI controls geared towards designers and developers who need to build information dashboards tracking key performance indicators and rich internet applications that deliver business intelligence. The xamTimeline, used by New Age Solution in their MDI project, empowers end users to quickly understand and visualize a sequence of events.
Using the xamTimeline, New Age Solution developed E.A.R.L., the Empowered Analysis & Reporting Log, which is a solution
that translates complex health data, claims histories and treatments into a visual representation of the patient’s body for quick assessment of high-risk situations. With this real-time, dynamic data, MDI can empower its customers with time saving insights into patient medical history.
