Infragistics Announces NetAdvantage for Silverlight Data Visualization

Three new Customer Technology Previews (CTPs) enable data visualization with Silverlight

Princeton, N.J. & Elstree, United Kingdom — October 27, 2008 —
Infragistics, the world leader in user interface development tools, today announced the immediate availability of three Community Technology Preview (CTP) User Interface (UI) components for Microsoft Silverlight. The new Map, Timeline and Zoombar, along with the previously released Chart and Gauge CTPs, are part of NetAdvantage for Silverlight Data Visualization which targets developers who are tasked with creating rich, useful information dashboard and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to help their companies make informed decisions based on pertinent information. Developers can download the CTPs now at www.infragistics.com/silverlight.

"Microsoft is pleased to be working with Infragistics to deliver the latest developer technologies to our customers," said Brian Goldfarb, Director of the Developer Platform and Tools team at Microsoft Corp. "NetAdvantage for Silverlight Data Visualization provides high-end data visualization to developers, with controls and components that are specifically designed to enable the creation of Silverlight Web-based media and Rich Internet Applications."

Three New CTPs
Silverlight is a comprehensive solution for the creation, development and delivery of Web-based applications and media experiences. Data visualization is an increasingly important part of application development as the amount of data available to users increases. The new CTPs are:

Map – The NetAdvantage for Silverlight Data Visualization's Map component is far more customizable and extensible than maps found in other applications and can be used to display geographic and spatial data to visualize trends worldwide. For example, developers can plot store locations all over the country with Map, track sales growth or even to create a venue map to demonstrate event seating and set up.
Timeline – The Timeline component tracks historical data such as showing transactions or deposits made over the past year, or tracking the timeline of shipping information.
Zoombar – The Zoombar works with the Chart and Timeline CTP components to zoom in on specific information or dynamic ranges.

"Infragistics recognizes businesses' needs are evolving, and the ability to visualize data in a useful and interactive format is becoming increasingly important," said Dean Guida, president and CEO of Infragistics. "Infragistics is an innovative leader in creating user experiences for new, emerging technology, which is being demonstrated with these CTPs for NetAdvantage for Silverlight Data Visualization."
