To support our continued growth, Infragistics is seeking a User Experience Designer to join our multi-disciplinary Services team. Our User Experience Designers execute consulting projects, helping our worldwide customers imagine, design, and build exceptional user experiences to increase their market position and edge. You will advocate the user’s perspective across all development phases, effectively communicating with stakeholders, iteratively creating UI artifacts including wireframes and prototypes which you test with target users. In this role, you will follow and exemplify the user-centered design process by executing context-of-use analyses and translating requirements into an interaction design that is based on best practices and validated with stakeholders and end users. The User Experience Designer evangelizes their UX knowledge and expertise via speaking engagements, tradeshows, and conferences as well as through published works to include articles, newsletters, and blogs.

Responsibilities

  • Execute UX consulting projects on mobile/web/desktop providing modern, effective, well-founded and practicable UI concepts for various industries;
  • Effectively collaborate with other Infragistics’ resources such as Developers, Software Architects and Visual Designers to generate the best results for our customers;
  • Write articles and give presentations about user experience;
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver UX training to customers through our four delivery mechanisms: live at customer sites, live at public places, live via the web, and web-based prerecorded training;
  • Travel up to a week at a time to client locations, primarily in the US;
  • Other responsibilities assigned as required

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in HCI, Psychology, Computer Science or equivalent;
  • Coursework in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, User-centered Design, Software Ergonomics;
  • 5+ years professional experience in UX consulting (mobile/web/desktop);
  • 3+ years professional experience in UX design of line-of-business applications;
  • 5+ years professional experience in carrying out core UX methodologies, e.g. context-of-use analysis, requirements gathering, wireframing, creation of UI Specs, usability testing;
  • Professional experience in public speaking
  • Familiarity with contemporary UI patterns for mobile/web/desktop;
  • Familiarity with UI design capabilities and limitations of various development platforms including .Net, jQuery, HTML5;
  • Willingness and ability to familiarize with Infragistics’ NetAdvantage control suite ;
  • Track record of promoting UX to others (e.g. through articles or blogs)
  • Ability to communicate complex and technical issues in a straight forward manner;
  • Ability to mediate between business people and technologists;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent listener and communicator with strong English skills;
  • High degree of attention to detail;
  • Clear evidence of understanding excellence in design;
  • Ability and willingness to travel and temporarily work at customer sites, typically one week at a time.
