Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Running Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with Infragistics NetAdvantage 10.1 controls on Windows 7 Ultimate and after I added a WebDataGrid to my page, in design mode it says "Requesting Data..." in the bottom left of the VS2010 IDE.  Won't go away ... and won't allow me to add any more Infragistics controls in Design View or Source View.

Not sure if it is specific to WebDataGrid.  I also have WebSplitter, WebTab, and WebExplorer controls on the page.

Doesn't do this on an empty Web Form.  See image below (blue circle cursor is also running when this happens).

Hello,

I took a look at this and was able to partially reproduce the issue you are having.  I do see the 'Requesting Data' and the blue circle cursor running.  However, the form is still functional for me - I can add controls, set properties, etc just fine.  Can you provide more specifics to the scenario you are running?  It would be helpful if you can provide the following information:

- Target framework of the project?

- WebApplication or WebSite?

- Are you using the 10.1 Release build (10.1.20101.1011), or a later Service Release?

Anything else you think is relevant will be helpful - a small sample project would help as well.

Regards,

Renee

I have the same issue.

I add a webdatagrid (v 10.1.20101.1011) to a new ASP project (target .NET 3.5) in VS2010 on XP Pro SP3.

The first time, visual studio became unresponsive and I had to kill it from task manager.

The scond time it remained responsive but had the hourglass and says "Requesting Data..."

Also, If I save the app, close it and reopen it, I get the hourglass and 'requesting data' back.

You can zip it and attach it in this forum thread. The zip file should be less than 200KB, so if it is bigger, just delete the ig_res folder.

Has anybody been able to determine what the cause and solution for this is?  I'm also having the same issue, except in my case I suspect it may also have something to do with the fact that VS2010 keeps crashing on me, which is causing me to lose work.   I'd like to find out how to fix this if possible.  If it is an unresolvable issue then please follow up with that information as well, as that will help us in our evaluation.   Thank you.

Hi,

The reason for that issue are missing background images in the WebDataGrid CSS. The Visual Design Team are aware of it and hopefully the bug will be resolved for the next service release.

Thank you kindly for the information.   I don't suppose there happens to be a workaround at the moment?  I do suspect that my VS2010 is crashing because of it... though I'm not certain.   Can I remove specific image references in the meantime in order to keep the issue from bothering VS?  Thanks again.

VS2010 shouldn't be crashing because of that but it's possible.

Yes, you can safely remove some background images from the grid CSS until the "requesting data" message disappears. Start with the following:

background-imageurl(transparent);

  igg_MiddleDragIndicator.png

igg_BottomDragIndicator.png

igg_TopDragIndicator.png

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the advice, Nicola.  I am looking at ig_dataGrid.css and have remmed out all of the instances where there is a background image referenced such as:

However, that does not seem to resolve the issue.  I am still seeing the "Requesting Data..." Are there other missing resources that I should try removing, or do I have the wrong css file perhaps?

Thanks again!

Followup:  I closed VS2010 and reopenned it again and now I do not have the issue after having remmed out the Background-Image tags in the css file.  Thanks!
