Is there a way to "insert" the contents of web pages into "your" word documents? Nothing leaps out at me that this is supported but it would be a nice touch.

You are correct, this is currently not supported.
To the best of my knowledge, when you paste HTML content into a word doc, they convert it right then and there to word content, that is to say word docs do not really support embedded HTML. This implies that it is necessary to parse the HTML content into a data structure that can then be serialized as WordprocessingML, which is not a trivial undertaking.
If you like you can submit a feature request for this functionality.
