Hello!
We have used Infragistics 2008 Volume 3 in a Windows Forms window. The .NET Version is 4 and the Visual Studio version is 2010. Whenever we open the Designer window, and try to access any of the panes or options, the visual studio crashes.
We tried this on two different systems but the issue is the same. Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
Please find attached the screenshot of the error. Also, let me know if you need any more information.
kind regards.
Hello Nancy,
Thank you for contacting Infragistics Developers Support.
Infragistics for Windows Forms 2008 Volume 3 was supported for versions from 2005 to 2008 of Visual Studio. Also this version of Infragistics was supported for version 3.0 and 3.5 of .NET Framework. It was never tested against .NET Framework 4.0 or newer, nor it was tested against Visual Studio 2010 or newer. More information about supported environments you may find at the following link http://www.infragistics.com/support/supported-environments.
What I can suggest you is, to upgrade your application to the latest version, or at least to version 11.1 - supported both under .NET Framework 4.0 and in Visual Studio 2010.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Hello Milko, thank you for the prompt response.
We tried updating it to Net Advantage Select 2011 Vol 2 but the visual studio is still crashing when we try to access the Designer Window.i have attached the screenshot of it as well.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this?
kind regards
Thank you for your feedback.
Please check the following points and let me know if any of these solve your issue:
If none of this solves your issue you may want to attempt to get an exception and call stack by attaching a debugger to Visual Studio before the crash. You can follow these steps to use a second instance of Visual Studio to do this:
If a managed exception is caught the second instance of Visual Studio should break and you can get a call stack and exception details. If the there is no exception caught, you may want to try to catch other exception types.
Note that if you are not running Visual Studio as Administrator this could affect if an exception is caught. If nothing was caught you may want to try running both instances of Visual Studio as Administrator.
If you do get a call stack and exception details, post it on this thread.
Let me know if you have any questions with this matter.
Hello Milko,
Thank you for the reply.
We tried to recreate all of the steps which you mentioned but still could not get the call stack. What we did was open 2 instances of Visual Studio with our project open in one of them and the debugger attached. Upon opening the designer window, the visual studio crashes and there is no call stack. But the console does give something in the output which i have copied and attached to this message as a text file. Please let me know if the console output gives something valuable for us to figure out what the problem is or if there is anything else that i need to do.
Thank you for your feedback and error log provided.
Looking at this log I can see, e.g. at line 148, that Visual Studio is trying to load Infragistics libraries from 2008.3. Can you confirm that your solution was updated to version 2011.2? To do so please, check all the references. Then clean your solution and rebuild it again.
Please let me know if this solves your issue.
