Licensing question - who in a team needs a license
posted

Hi,

we are a number of developers working on one project in several teams. One team provides a framework, which includes UI controls that are based on Infragistics controls. If other teams use these controls, I would like to know in which cases a developer needs an Infragistics license:

1. Working on the xaml file - editing the xaml code directly - that uses the Infragistics based user control.

2. Working with the xaml designer for a file that uses the Infragistics based user control.

3. Working on the NON-UI part of a component (dll) that uses an Infragistics based user control.

In all three cases the component references only our framework component, Infragistics components are only indirect dependencies.

Thanks for the clarification

Regards

Bettina

    Hello Bettina,

A developer who intends to download, install, and use our Infragistics products should have in their possession a license key to register the product and register on our website with their personalized account. That way if anyone has any question, each developer is entitled to support from us and can use our website to download service patches, updates, and additional resources if needed.

A developer who will not work with our controls directly or will not need to access the designer layer is not required to have a license. If at anypoint a developer needs to access our source, the designer, or access to any of our controls API will be required to install and register our product with a license.

I strongly recommend contacting our sales department directly. Our sales representatives can assist with any additional licensing questions you may have.

You can reach  them via email or by phone by visiting our about us page here:
