Hello,
as there are many duplicate/similar controls in your suite,is there a general thumb rule how to choose the "best" one when developing for WPF?For example XamMonthCalendar vs. XamCalendar.
Can you explain why there are so many similar controls in different namespaces available? Are some of them legacy and only conained for backwards compatibility?
Maybe there should be a blogpost which explains this topic in detail.
Thank you, alex.
Hello Alex,
Thank you for your post. I have been looking into it and I can say that the XamCalendar is a ported control from Silverlight and the XamMonthCalendar is a WPF control. The XamCalendar is used in the XamDateTimeInput’s Dropdown, while the XamMonthCalendar is used in the XamDateTimeEditor. We are trying to make all Silverlight controls available in WPF, too and this is why there are similar controls. Please let me know if you have further questions on this matter.
Looking forward for your reply.
I am just checking if you got this worked out or you still require any assistance or clarification on the matter.
Hi Stefan,
thank you for repsponse. Can you make a statement if one of the two control sets are preferred to be used in current WPF development?
Alexander.
Hello Alexander,
It depends on you and your requirements, which control to use. You can take a look at both controls in the Samples browser and see which one suits you best. As I said the reason there are two calendars is because the XamCalendar is ported from Silverlight.
Hope this helps you.
