Ribbon merging - find merged tab

Given the following scenario:

One ribbon on MDI Parent and one on MDI Child. MDI Child is created and added or already exists and is made the active mdi child. What is the best way to find the tab which was added/updated to the MDI Parent's ribbon so that it can be set as the currently selected tab?
