igCombo - how to get entered text from igcombo control

Hi,

I am using igcombo. I have a requirement like this

For example if i enter character 'C' then matched items are loaded and focused first item from the filter. 

If i tried to get some thing like this $("#combo").val() will return first item which has selected automatically by igcombo.

But i need to get character 'C' instead of first focused item.

I think you understand this. Please help me in this regard.

    Actually, I am a little unclear as to the problem you are trying to address here. I 'think' it may be what is being addressed with this forum post: http://www.infragistics.com/community/forums/p/79257/400878.aspx

     If what is being addressed here with this post is not what you are doing here, I will ask that you include a small sample and restate your objective once more as well as the expected results.
