Application Styling is a ground-breaking concept in user interface development that allows developers and graphic designers to collaborate more efficiently. The developer creates the application, while graphic designer simultaneously creates styles that can be used in that application. When finished, the graphic designer delivers the style library to the developer who then loads it into the application with minimal coding. Styling world-class applications with a polished, professional look and feel has never been easier.

NetAdvantage AppStylist® for Windows Forms is a stand-alone application that works outside of the Microsoft® Visual Studio® IDE, and therefore empowers visual designers to create and edit style libraries, effortlessly and intuitively. NetAdvantage AppStylist for Windows Forms lets you style every detail of your application's NetAdvantage for Windows Forms controls with the help of our unique Appearance object and proven Presentation Layer Framework™. Use the simple point-and-click interface to repaint styles change on the canvas like an artist. The user interface has been divided into three intuitive sections that visual designers will find familiar:

The Canvas view allows users to change the styles in real-time.

Canvas

This section shows an example of your current style as it appears on a control. Whenever you change a style's settings it dynamically updates to give you immediate visual feedback.

The Style Explorer views allows users to select styles to be modified.

Style Explorer

This section lets you select styles that you want to modify based on the role they will play in either a user interface or as an individual component.

The Properties view allows users to manipulate the look and feel based on the different style settings.

Properties

This section is where you will enjoy flexibility experimenting with the look and feel of different style settings, as it is the core section for changing the settings of different appearances for UI roles and style states.

Using styles in your application is even easier than creating a custom style itself – simply load your Style Library which is self-contained as a file with an .isl extension.  Since not every organization can retain a full staff of visual designers, we've included many professionally designed style sets for you to get started.  After your application loads the Style Library (which takes as little as one line of code), the NetAdvantage controls will pick up their default StyleSets or use a style set targeted specifically for that control type. Your application doesn't have to set anything else to make application styling work. However, if you need the exacting precision you've come to expect from Infragistics' products, you still can customize individual controls by setting their StyleSetName property to a custom style set. You can also track if and when a style set has been loaded with the StyleChanged event.
