Explorer Bar in ASP.NET

Watch the ASP.NET WebExplorerBar video and learn how you can recursively nest items in the bar and get started using the client side object model to interact with bar items. (Duration: 5:32)

WebExplorerBar™ presents a common navigational user interface found across many Websites, Windowing environments, and applications where you have a top-level group, and each of the groups can have either items (possibly hierarchical) or templates that hold custom elements. Either one group (explorer bar), multiple groups (accordion-style) or all groups (side bar) may be expanded at any given time. Fully customizable group headers and items, expand and collapse images, and animated expansion and collapse effects only add to this dynamic navigation user experience.

Key Features at a Glance

WebExplorerBar gives you stylable, configurable groups for navigating items with rich interactivity including:

  • Loads on Demand – Groups can load lazily when the user expands them, or cache the content loaded initially to avoid taxing the network.
  • Highly Configurable – Control its many behaviors and elements to create Outlook®-style groups, accordion-style groups, or whatever look and feel you are after.
  • Control Container – Use ASP.NET Templates to display whatever complex content you want within your expanded groups.
  • Data Binding – Bind groups and items to your data to create a more easily extensible, data-driven user interface.
  • Robust Items Support – Enable, disable, mouseover and select items, have your items contain yet other items hierarchically, associate images with items and more.
  • Fully Animated – Customize animation effects on expansion and collapse, and set duration and how you want the animated transition to feel (ease-in, bounce, etc.).
  • Client-Side Object Model – Manipulate virtually any object on the client using JavaScript with its comprehensive client-side API and fine-grained events.
