When entering data with the pen, alternate recognitions are also displayed, letting the user easily select the correct text if it was not properly recognized by default.

Support for masked and freeform editing, and editing of gestures.  The input panel automatically detects the type of control it’s connected to, and determines whether to input in free form mode (for example, with text boxes), or masked mode (for example, with date/time controls).  If invalid data is entered (for example, 22 for the month), the invalid text will be highlighted.

Unlike the standard Tablet PC pen input panel, which appears at the bottom of the screen, the WinInkProvider displays an input panel right next to the place where you are entering data. 

The input panel provides buttons that display popup lists of character choices to make entering numbers and symbols a snap

The input panel provides a dedicated Gesture Panel which is an 'inkable' area that recognizes 14 common editing gestures such as 'Right' and 'Left' strokes for entering a space or backspacing.
