NetAdvantage for Silverlight 2008 Volume 1 - Charts and Grids Deliver Valuable Visualizations
As we note in our Infragistics and Silverlight overview, we are committed to powering line of business applications on the new Silverlight 2 platform. Microsoft is releasing a handy set of basic Silverlight controls, and we are filling in the gaps and adding value as our subscribers have come to expect from us. To this end, our first release, targeting shortly after Silverlight 2 is released later this year, will include a core set of line of business and data visualization value-add controls.
Rich Silverlight Charts
As we've been demonstrating since the first Silverlight Alpha was released in May 2007, Infragistics is leveraging our learning and investment in WPF to bring rich charting to Silverlight 2. In our first release, we will include many of the most common chart types, such as bar, column, pie, line, and more, optimized for the Silverlight 2 platform both in terms of user experience and performance. And since we're using our existing charting framework and engine, developers familiar with those will quickly come up to speed with the Silverlight charts.
Rich Silverlight Grid
Infragistics has been doing rich, hierarchical grids for almost twenty years now. As new UI platforms have emerged, we continuously empower developers by applying that knowledge to the new platforms and innovating both by taking advantage of the peculiar capabilities of each platform and exploring new features as yet unheard of in reusable grid components. We are doing the same with Silverlight to ensure that developers get the tooling they need to continue to deliver high-power, data-intensive line-of-business applications.
Rich User Experiences
Silverlight brings a lot to the table in terms of enabling rich user experiences on the Web and has the potential to lower the total cost of ownership for rich interactive applications. Infragistics is committed to both pushing the envelope to explore new experiences for real-world application development while at the same time focusing on making our Silverlight tools provide great user experience for the developers who use them and the people who use the apps that our developers build. We're applying this philosophy across our entire line of products and especially to our Silverlight product.
Keep an eye on Infragistics for new and innovative tools and components that will help you realize the next generation of rich Web applications.
