App Builder 2022 Roadmap

Jason Beres [Infragistics] / Monday, December 6, 2021

If you haven't seen the latest features we've shipped in App Builder, make sure to catch up on the latest blogs!  In 2022, we are continuing to innovate and deliver exciting new features across all aspects of App Builder. Some of the high points include:

  • Adding support for React & Web Components code generation, on top of Angular and Blazor code gen we are shipping today.
  • More new controls across new code gen frameworks like Blazor, React & Web Components – the goal is feature parity with what is available in Angular by mid-February 2022.
  • Continued improvement to deliver pixel-perfect theming & branding in the Sketch & Adobe XD plugins for the design-to-developer hand-off experience.
  • Figma support to sync designs directly with App Builder, just like we do with Sketch & Adobe XD today.
  • Azure DevOps repository integration with the generated code output and design / code synchronization just like we offer with GitHub today.
  • Code-generated CRUD code from imported SWAGGER schemas created by your data access code.
  • Forms Builder will allow you to auto-create CRUD data entry forms on a page design with simple drag & drop.

Our goal continues to deliver the most productive screen designer for modern web development as possible – this means eliminating more and more of the code that you are required to write to design and build apps.

Here is what the first few months of the year looks like in terms of feature delivery:

WYSIWYG App Builder 2022 Roadmap

As with any roadmap, it's an aspirational goal.  We're usually pretty close, but for some of the features that we haven't designed yet, they might take longer. We will continue to update you via our bi-weekly webinars, bi-weekly YouTube Live events, and on the Discord channel.  If you are not plugged into those channels yet, that is how to keep updated on the most recent features & capabilities that we are shipping in App Builder.

In terms of actual release, we will be doing monthly releases, so while this is a bit more than a quarterly roadmap, expect frequent updates, frequent and fast bug fixes, and a ton of goodness shipping in 2022. As everything we are doing is on GitHub, keep an eye on the changelog and the roadmap there as well.
