• AVG’s new Windows 8 style UI (formerly known as Metro).

    AVG is an anti-virus software. In anticipation of the upcoming Windows 8, they’ve just modernized their UI to look like Windows 8 style UI – what was formerly known as Metro.

     

    It used to look like this:

    Typical Windows 8 style characteristics:

    • flat
    • spacious
    • colored tiles
    • simple iconography
    • focused on content rather than chrome

    It’s amazing how much impact Windows new design language…

  • Dyson Air Blade & Thorough Design

    When I was in college many moons ago, our prof would take us to everyday machines like copy machines, vending machines, elevators, etc. for an ad-hoc design evaluation.     One quick and easy way of making any application or website more usable is to identify primary actions and secondary actions.
