I recently updated Visual Studio 2015 Professional to Update 2 and it will not load now. It sticks at the reading component cache part of launch. After uninstalling Ignite UI 15.2 it will launch normally again. I've tried deleting the componentmodelcache folder and it still hangs. I've done a fresh install of both VS and IgniteUI. VS will only launch when IgniteUI 15.2 is not there. Is there a patch/workaround?
Looking at it more closely it seems to be the developer tookit thing that is the actual culprit.
Hi Brandon,
I haven't heard of this issue before. Please try the following:
Please let me know if you have any questions.
I got this to work by deleting a bunch of older versions of VS and Infragistics. I had about 4 versions of each. Then, I ran a repair of VS 2015 and manually deleted the %appdata%\microsoft\visual studio\14 folder in both local and roaming. Next, I installed the full Ignite UI 15.2 suite with the patch and ran the Create Visual Studio Toolbox Tab. Now it's been working stably for a day.
The only problem from Infragistics I had was initially the toolbox tab creator gave me an error. I just needed to clear out the VS appdata folders and repair VS. After, that it ran fine.
The more I look at it the more it seems an error with upgrading VS to update 2 and not doing housekeeping.
Thank you for updating us on how you were able to resolve this. Please let me know if there's anything further we can do to assist you.
