Inconsistent Errors- "Error trying to open the document"

When trying to open PDF files in a SharePoint folder, I am seeing an error "Error.  Error trying to open the document."  This error appears inconsistently.  Any recommendations on how to troubleshoot?

    Hello and thank you for your support request!

    Please try emailing these documents to yourself and open them from the Mail app in your iPad or iPhone. You should see the same errors.

    SharePlus uses the iOS native document viewer, the same the Mail app uses.

    Should the documents work fine in the Mail app, please attach a copy of one of the documents so I can have our developers diagnose the issue.
