[SharePlus & ReportPlus] How do I find and send my device crash logs?
posted

Crash Logs

These logs are generated automatically by your device whenever an app crashes. They are stored in the device and saved to your PC or Mac when you plug in and sync your device with iTunes.

The contents of the logs are purely technical, though you can check their content by yourself with any text editor such as Notepad in your PC or TextEdit in your Mac.

Sync your device

To get the logs out of the device, you need to sync it with iTunes:

  1. Open iTunes in your PC or Mac
  2. Plug in your iPad/iPhone to your PC or Mac using the data cable
  3. Plugging your device will automatically trigger the sync

Find the Crash Logs

Once the device is sync'd, you'll have to find where the logs were stored in your PC or Mac.

Mac

  1. Open Finder
  2. Open the Go menu
  3. Click Go to folder... (you can skip steps 2 & 3 by hitting ⇧⌘G in your keyboard)
  4. Type, or Copy+Paste this path  ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/
  5. Look for your device's name under the MobileDevice folder
  6. Look for all files ending with .crash
  7. Select the ones that have SharePlus/ReportPlus in the name (you can multiple-select items by holding  in your keyboard while clicking the files)
  8. Right click on any of the selected files (two-finger tap in your trackpad) and select Compress X items, being X the number of files you selected.
  9. Move the Archive.zip file to your desktop for easier access

PC

  1. Open an Explorer window, any will do. You can go to My Documents or your C:\ drive.
  2. Click the Address Bar
  3. Type %appdata% and hit Enter in your keyboard
  4. Navigate to Roaming > Apple computer > Logs > CrashReporter > Mobile Device
  5. You should see a folder named the same as your iPad/iPhone
  6. Look for all files ending with .crash
  7. Select the ones that have SharePlus/ReportPlus in the name (you can multiple-select items by holding Ctrl in your keyboard while clicking the files)
  8. Move the files to your desktop for easier access
  9. Compress the files into a .zip archive

Send the Logs

It's highly recommended that you send the logs in a .zip archive. It's easier and faster to upload a single file than multiple logs.

If you're submitting the logs via our support system, zipping the files is a requirement.

Should you experience any issues when uploading the logs through any of our support channels. Let your Support Specialist know so he can assist you.

Take care,
