Hey, guys.
I have a list with around 8000 items, over the 5000 item view threshold, as such I have to create views to reduce the amount of items shown.
This all works well in shareplus - until I go to filter (specifically, the search bar filter up top) those particular views... I get a generic error?
Any ideas?
Cheers!
Hi Cody!
Thank you for your post.
Please enable the app logs (Settigs > Advanced Settings > Enable Logs) and start recording before reproducing the issue a couple of times. Then, stop recording and send the logs. Post here the number you're given so I can look the up and try to see what's going on.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks, Javier.
Ticket# 51103.
Is the recorded data simply actions taken? Some of the data is confidential, is all.
Got them!Yes, only requests/responses are logged. The actual contents are safe.
The error seems to be due to the 5000 item limit:
"The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold enforced by the administrator."
Would you mind trying to sync the list for offline use?
Tap and hold the list and select "Sync now" from the contextual menu.
Thanks!
Hey, Javier,
Thanks for the quick reply!
I had indeed guessed that is the error that shareplus is throwing. Problem is, I'm not site admin, I don't have control over list limit.
The view I'm using limits it down to around 1500 items, or so, I believe, and it works perfectly in a browser with a filter.
Shareplus will display the view, but as soon you go to filter the view, it throws the error - so I'm guessing that, in shareplus, the filter doesn't work on the current view, but the entire list, itself. (After testing in a smaller list, I see the end result is still the same, i.e, displays on the filtered items FOR that list - but the actual filter must first pass through the ENTIRE list, it'd need to be coded such that the filter only filters items in the current view.)
I did try Offline support, with both view based and per item sync modes, none of those options worked.
For the time being, I've simply added a browser link to that particular view to the home screen, but hopefully we can squash the bug! :)
Cody,
Is the list's default view the "All items" view? Maybe you can set as the personal default view the one that you use so the list already loads with the content you need. See support.office.com/.../create-change-or-delete-a-view-of-a-list-or-library-27ae65b8-bc5b-4949-b29b-4ee87144a9c9
I hope your Easter was happy and safe!
The default view was another custom view, that also escapes the list view limit, but does not allow filtering in shareplus.
I did change the default view, and default mobile view to be the view discussed, but to no avail - good idea for testing, though!
Cheers.
Hi! Happy Easter to you as well.
Would you say it'd be possible to have test access to your environment?
I'm sure it would help our developers attempt to fix it.
Thanks in advance,
Hey Javier,
Thank you!
Unfortunately not, the list is crucially confidential information. The organization frowns upon outside users.
I understand
How about you make a new test view that returns less than 5K items? Set it as default and see if the list works this way.
Remember: after you create the new view, go to SharePlus, tap and hold the list in question, select settings, then tap Clear All.
After this try accessing the list again in SharePlus.
Thanks for the understanding!
The list view I am referencing does indeed return less than 5K items, as that is the threshold on the lists. It works on PC, with the filtering and all.
A standard view that lists all items will not display on PC nor shareplus - but this view will, as it returns less than 5K items. Only difference is that shareplus can not then filter on that view without getting the error.
I have tried creating a couple of new views now, with varying limiting fields, setting them as default with no success. (and I always do a "clear all" just in case).
hmmmm... Not sure what else to try.
Any chance you can get a list template so I can replicate it with its columns on my end... it will take a while to populate it but it's the best approach I can think of. Thanks!
