Test Automation for IBM RFT: Windows Forms - Recent Threads

Tried the trial license with HCL flavor of Functional Tester , get an error the " RFT is not installed"

We wanted to try the trail license with HCL One Test UI ( HCL Flavour of RFT) , however get the error that RF Ti snot installed.

Looks like the utility/Addon installation looks for the RFT signature or RFT installation through registry ? Can this tool be made compatible with HCL One Test UI - HOT UI as well ? If yes whom to contact ?

HCL One Test UI - HOT UI is not a supported environment. You may submit a new product idea on our website.

You can suggest new product ideas for future versions (or vote for existing ones) at <https://www.infragistics.com/community/ideas>.

Submitting your idea will allow you to communicate directly with our product management team, track the progress of your idea at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.

UltraGridTestObject referred in RFT script does not work on Windows 10

I have test scripts written in RFT and its working fine with Windows 7.

When i moved the same script to windows 10 its just fails because of Ultratable fails to execute Click method.

Following is the error in script:

Hi Suresh,

Before I can say anything about this particular issue, can you please do a couple of things to make sure Test Automation has installed properly on your Windows 10 Machine.

1. Open a Java sample script that gets installed with the product in Eclipse and try to run it. Let me know how it goes.

At least from that we can make sure all installations have gone perfectly and the cause for the issue that you are seeing is related something else.

GenericPaneClientHwndHost class error

Hello there,

I am attempting to computerize my windows application, which is created as an include in Visual Studio 2010 utilizing RFT 8.2.

Be that as it may, when I began to record, RFT isn't recognizing all items. Its distinguished articles has a place with "Microsoft.VisualStudio.Platform.WindowManagement.GenericPaneClientHwndHost" class. After that I attempted to include check point by choosing every one of the items in the windows shape. Later I attempted to feature every question by objects particularly "WindowsForms10.Window.8.app.0.34f5582_r38_" type. I am not ready to 'Feature' protest in AUT. I am getting a client message (please allude connection).

Would anyone be able to help me to settle this issue..

Hi Katherine,

This is what I was able to make out from your case that you are trying to automate your Windows Application using the RFT Automation Tool added as an extension in Visual Studio 2010.

If you have Infragistics controls on your Windows Application then you need Windows Forms Test automation for IBM which is a collection of custom proxies built using IBM Rational Functional Tester to automate your AUT. Currently each volume release of Test Automation for IBM Windows Forms maps directly to the corresponding release of Ultimate UI for Windows forms.

Before I can suggest you any further, I want to confirm whether you have the Test Automation installed and if you have it, please make sure the versions of both Test Automation and Ultimate UI for Windows forms are the same.

RFT unable to see UltraDropDownTable when play back

Hi,

I am using IBM Rational Functional Tester 8.2 and am having issues when play back the script. The object is there, but RFT just can't see it. Recording seems fine.

Play back worked with RFT version of 8.1.

Here's the error message;

exception_name = Rational.Test.Ft.ObjectNotFoundException
exception_message = Looking for [UltraDropDownTestObject(Name: UltraDropDownTable, Map: UltraDropDownTable)] - no plausible candidate was found.

Any ideas?

When you have an object called html_headerbot (), that is the actual Flex object that was captured or just HTML that surrounds the flex canvas, button. . . what do you have? C9020-662 VCE

Also what version of flex and rft are you using?

The Eur project was compiled with the right flexible libraries ???

I have many questions, maybe more than you, however, give me some answers and I can give you a theory.

RFT not able to record infragistics win forms

Currently we are migrating to RFT and our windows application is build on top of Infragistics win forms. When we are adding the objects to object map, most of the objects are captured under .netControlProxy.

When we try to record the applications, actions are recorded based on cordinates rather than object methods. Below are RFT tool and infragistics information.

RFT version-8.6.0.10

Infragistics Net advantage-16.2

Infragistics Test Advantage-20162(Trial version).

We followed most of the forum solutions but still not able to fix the issue.

Good Day!

Except Text box , buttons and form, other controls are recognized as .netcontrolproxy class. Even while recording, menu strip is not captured.

Thanks for providing the information about your versions. It looks like you are using the same version of both Infragistics and Test Automation for IBM RFT.

Can you provide more information on which controls you are working with? Are any controls recording correctly, or does the issue affect all Infragistics components?

How to capture objects in windows application through RFT.

I launched a jnlp file which opens the application for me using JRE 1.8 for which I need to perform test, but I am unable to capture the objects present in the application. I could only capture the frame window.

I tried doing record and play back but the script reads as follows:-

sunAwtFramewindow().click(atPoint(x,y))----(for UserName field)

sunAwtFramewindow().inputChars("abc")----(for UserName field)

where sunAwtFramewindow is the only thing I can capture.

I got to find the solution.

The version of JRE used for to launch the jnlp file was not enabled for testing. Now that I have enabled, it is identifying the properties.

As you directed I tried looking in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\RFT\customization path for CustomObjRecProp_Infragistics.rftop and Infragistics.rftcust but I could not access the folder due to security concerns.

I have attached the rft_logand rft_trace logs.

Hello Smita,

Please send us the below information in order to investigate why the objects in your application are not being captured using RFT.

1. The files(CustomObjRecProp_Infragistics.rftop, Infragistics.rftcust) in the customization folder under
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\RFT\customization path.

2. RFT log file. Turn on RFT debugging and send us the log file, you can refer to this page on how to enable logging and tracing for RFT.

It sounds like you are using RFT to automate a web application. Unfortunately we only support the automation of our WindowsForms UI controls using RFT, and as such are unfamilar with using RFT in that manner, it may be best to contact IBM or post on their forums to get a response to that.

How to set the value to the cell in UltrawinGrid using row number and visisble column Name

Below is the code snippet we are using to set the value to the specified cell using row number(first row) and column number(first column) in the ultrawingrid table.

However there are some hidden columns in the grid table, so we are unable to give the exact column number to set the value. Suppose if we need to set the value to the first row and first column mentioned in the above code snippet, we are giving column(Cells) value as 4, because there are another 4 hidden columns existed before this visible column(first column) in the table. So is there any specific method or property to set the value using row number and visible column name (instead of index(4)).

With any of these below code I encountered this error message: "unable to convert from 'System.String' to 'System.Int32'"

Hello ,

Based on the call stack that you provide it seems that RFT cannot find a particular Sub Item, so probably it doesn’t exist at the collection or for some reason RFT cannot find it. So you should read your script “DatacollectionApp1Family2” in order to see what exactly action it performs , try to replicate them manually and see is this item exist.
