Hi,
My application uses XamDataGrid and Date Picker controls of Infragistics.
I found some issue in automating those controls using QTP.
So I downloaded a trial version of "Test Advantage for Windows (HP) 2008" in my machine.
But still QTP couldnt identify or automate those controls.
Please help me if I am missing something here.
Some details about my application:
Tool-QTP 9.5
Addin-.net 3.5
Application is developed in WPF
Thanks,
Raja
We do not currently have a version of TestAdvantage usable to automate testing of our WPF toolset. Current versions of TestAdvantage are for testing our Windows Forms controls only.
Hello Vince,
I am hoping there is now a solution where there was not one last year.
Could you reply back and let me know if QTP 9.5 has an Infragistic plug-in available?
If not, what is the ETA?
Is there a Beta?
Al
While WPF inherently a part of .NET. The QuickTest Professional .NET extensibility kit, does not include support for all of .NET. At the moment, it only supports Windows Forms controls, ie, controls that inherit from System.Windows.Forms.Control. While WPF is a Rich Client platform similar to Windows Forms, it is vastly different in architecture, least of which being, each control inherits for a System.Windows.Controls.Control. As such they need to develop a new extensibility kit specifically to allow others to support third party controls via their software. While they have added support for the base WPF controls, as of QuickTest Professional 10.0, they have not created a viable extensibility kit.
I hope this clears up any confusion on the matter,
Any update from HP side on this in 2010?
Thanks
As of today, nothing new has been released from HP in the way of a WPF extensibility kit.
Is there any other tool which has full support to Automation of WPF objects?
To my knowledge, no there is no tool tha thas full support for automation of WPF objects.
@above
Has anything changed ? do we have any tool to automate infragistics + wpf + .net app ?
I am looking for a tool to automate my application which uses netAdvantage for Wpf controls.
any help would be appreciated
thanks
With the release of QTPNET_00038, HP's QuickTest Professional seems to have a promising WPF extensibility kit. We are currently reviewing it, and looking into implementing it for our WPF controls, but as of this time no date or scope of controls supported can be given.
Thanks a lot for your quick reply.
Will wait and watch for any further update.
also one more thing , Which is the best tool for me to use for automating ui testing in applications with wpf + infragestics controls ?
Unfortunately, as of today, I am unaware of any UI automation toolset that supports our WPF controls out of the box.
Just thought id post an update , I am currently evaluating a trial version of Test Automation Fx , and this tool seems to be working with my infragistics + wpf application. I am still covering all the controls and testing the software , for others trying to get Automated UI testing for their wpf application , they can check it out. Although I am still waiting for the new QTP add in to be released.
