Hello all,
I have a web application I would like to develop that is going to diplay list of items like a windows folder.
The goal is to display items and folders in this grid, and to be able to expand (with an Ajax call) a folder content inside the list. This will show this folder content indented, and also items below at the "root" of the list.
Is this sonething possible with WebDataGrid?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Ben.
Hello Ben,
Being able to show hierarchical data is a feature that will be coming out in the next CTP and release in 9.2 (October). It will include manual creating of hierarchies to help you with your scenario.
If you cannot wait for the feature to come out, then you can use the WebGrid which supports manual load on demand via ajax at the moment. Click here to go the sample page.
hth,
Taz.
Thanks for your answer Taz,
I would like to take the opportunity to ask you a couple of question regarding the WebDataGrid:
- Is it possible to limit cells renaming to a specific column?
- Can we populate some columns with predefined data and mark them as read only when adding a row?
- Can it be possible to use Drag & Drop framework on grid rows?
If some are not possible, would it be possible that the WebGrid control would to do all of this?
Thanks, Ben.
Not sure what you mean by renaming cells to a specific column?
Yes, you can handle the row adding client event and populate the new row with data, including the read-only columns
Yes. Craig, our Media Evangelist, has created a video to show how, click here.
