XamDataGrid "manual binding"

I would like to define a column by providing a Func<ItemType,ColumnValueType> that specifies how to extract a cell value from an item. Is that possible with XamDataGrid?

I don't think unbound columns will do, because the only way I can see is to subscribe to InitializeRecordEvent and explictly assign values to all the columns. It sounds totally impractical (I lose column virtualization, and what happens if I dynamically add columns?).

I don't want to enter wpf bindings in my UI code for so many reasons, but I'm opened to defining generically a binding that would somehow call my Funcs, inside a converter maybe.

Sharing Recent Color Palette Between Color Pickers

It appears that, by default, the brushes that show up in the color picker's Recent Color Palette are only local to that instance of the color picker. For example, say I have two different color pickers in a UI. If I choose Blue in color picker 1, Blue will show up in color picker 1's recent color list, but not in color picker 2's.

Is there a way to configure the color picker so that recent colors are shared between all instances of the color pickers?

If not, do you have some suggested workarounds to get similar behavior?

XamDataGrid issues with changing the selected item and focus

I have 3 XamDataGrids each with a different source, I want the different grids to act together so if the first grid is selected and the right arrow is pressed, the first grid should be deselected and the second grid should be focused and the first item in the second grid should be selected. This is working correctly, however, pressing the left arrow key does not seem to work. Focus is actually going to the right and no item is being selected. The logic used to determine the next grid is the same for both left and right clicks but for some reason only the left arrow key is causing issues.

XamDataGrid ComboBoxField input to uppercase

Hi,

I have a XamDataGrid with a ComboBoxField that is editable. I would like to force all characters to be upper case when the user is typing.

I managed it for TextField using a style with 'CharacterCasing'.

Here is my XamDataGrid XAML:

MessageBox Displayed when one Checkbox is checked within ListView

I have a ListView with several checkboxes contained that are loaded from a database. For just one of these checkboxes, I'd like to have a messagebox display when it is checked. I will then capture the answer to that question as data.

I would think I need to use a ListView.SelectedItem in the code-behind but this displays the messagebox only when the pertinent checkbox is the only box checked. I can get it so that the messagebox is displayed, but only if that checkbox is the only box checked. Also, the message will continue to display if I leave that box checked and check/uncheck other boxes. I don't want this. I need it to display only at the moment it's checked regardless of how many other boxes are checked.

So I changed it to .SelectedItems but this isn't working either. My current attempt is as follows:

I understand your concern and I can assure you that the Ultimate UI for WPF product is in active support. The samples within the Browser indeed target the mentioned version of .NET Framework, nevertheless, all subsequent versions up to 4.8 are supported as well. Additionally, the product supports .NET (5,6,7) and is to be maintained for future versions.

However, the “Productivity Tools” , while related to the Ultimate UI product, are not part of it. Unfortunately, it seems they are not under active development, possibly due to prioritization. The main page of their documentation section links the Supported Environments Page for completeness as well. As for the reasons behind this, what I can say is that the global trend is rather inclined towards cross-platform, mobile and web application solutions these days. Other developer tools that are currently actively developed in Infragistics are Ignite UI for Angular, Blazor, Web Components, React, the App Builder and many more.

Regarding the ease of use of the components, they are designed with primarily this in mind, meaning simplicity both for developers and end-users. We strive to provide as detailed a documentation as possible and are always ready to assist you with any implementation questions via our forums and support requests system.

In conclusion, we appreciate your feedback and interest in our products and services!

Hi,

I find a little bit strange that on the current site Infragistics speaks about configurators which are not supported anymore for the current vs version 2022. Also i found out that all the wpf examples are targeted to .net framework 4.5 which i also not supported anymore.

I thought i bought a package which could help me to make development easier but it gives a lot off struggle this way.

i would like to express my dissapointment onthese things.

Maybe other packages are more up to date and easier to work with

To address your question about the Control Configurator extension, I am afraid that according to our Supported Environments page, under “Productivity Tools”, I determined that Control Configurators are supported for Visual Studio up to version 2017, and additionally for Windows up to version 10. Having this in mind, it appears that the tool is not under active support.

If you would like to eventually have continued support for it, what I can currently suggest is logging a feature request in our WPF ideas site here.

Lastly, since the control configurator is not available, if you need assistance with setting up the XamDataGrid, please, do not hesitate to post new forum questions in the WPF forum, or to create private support cases, so that we can assist with implementing your requirements in the context of the grid. XamColorPicker Advanced Dialog

I can't find a way to set the title or style the Advanced Color dialog. I can style the body of it just fine, I really mine the title bar. Also I can't set the title of the Advanced dialog. I downloaded the sample app and saw an example using RESX files but we don't use RESX files in our application and it would be very hacky to try to support that just for this control. All other strings have a dependency property that can be set in the XAML or code. I can't find the equivalent for the Advanced dialog title.

Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code is the main utilities I use when developing these platforms.

What type of application(s) are you interested in developing? Web, desktop, hybrid?

* Blazor might interest you because it leverages the successor to .NET Framework aka .NET Core. It's a favorable and popular transition migrating from desktop to web and use Maui.

We have a vast mature product line for both Windows Forms and WPF, specific for desktop applications.

Our WinUI library is in an alpha state and in its early stages of development. I don't have any ETA on further development as it's not our priority right now.

I have been investigating into the code you have provided, and I believe that there are a couple of issues that may be causing this to not work correctly. I will discuss them below:

1. The following line won't cause an exception, but it is not valid either:

nextGrid.SelectedDataItem = nextGrid.Records[0];

The SelectedDataItem property expects the underlying data item from your data collection – not a Record. This will be filled in by the previous line that adds the nextGrid.Records[0] to the nextGrid.SelectedItems.Records collection though, so you can remove this line.

2. I believe you may be causing a conflict between the built-in XamDataGrid keyboard navigation and yours. To prevent this, I would recommend marking the PreviewKeyDown event handled (e.Handled = true) in the case of your Left and Right key presses.

The above changes should allow your grid to work as you expect.

XamDataGrid Bind to SummaryResults

I'd like to display the sums of several fields in some Label UIElements, separate from the grid. I discovered that I can programmatically enable the sum calculation for the fields I need and bind my Label's Content to the SummaryResults, like so:

However there are a couple of issues. Ideally I would not show the summary row at all since it's a redundant display, but setting SummaryDisplayArea="None" results in the summary values never getting calculated - my Labels just remain blank. To compromise I thought I'd try "Bottom" so it would be less obtrusive, but then I realized that when the grid starts filling in and the summary row gets pushed below the visible vertical area my labels stop updating.

Is there a way to get either my ideal setup of a hidden summary row, or at least one that's not pinned to the top of the grid, but still pull from the SummaryResults collection for my bindings? Thanks.

I cannot seem to reproduce the behavior where the summaries don’t calculate if the summary row is out of view, and I am attaching a sample to demonstrate this.

XamDataGrid ApplyCustomizations() - Index out of range error

We are using Infragistics WPF4 v17.1.20171.2200. We ran into an issue where loading saved customizations for XamDataGrid result in a index out of range error. Unfortunately, it only happens at a client site. We cannot reproduce internally. It happens when we try to load a customization where one of the columns was added dynamically (not defined in XAML). We have code that will loop through the fields definition in the layout xml and dynamically add the column back on load. From what I can see in the UI, none of the columns were rendered and because of that we get the index out of range error. But we cannot figure out what caused the problem, esp. it only happens at the client site.
