Hello, i work on an old Project with VS2008; .Net 2.x and Infragistics 8.2 (not possible to upgrade the Project at the Moment!). I use the calender info and fill the appointments and owner structure via dataset from a SQL Server 2008 R2 database. I store my additional Infos i Need in a csv-list in the datakey and handle additional Relations on the database via stored procs, that proof on insert, update and delete what to do. So if i have a appointment on a day for several 'owner', my sp handels this on the database and i also catch the 'close' of the appointment Dialog to create the additional appointments in the calender info collection. This works fine for me. But i have a Problem with this if the appointment should be a recurrence!
My wish: take the reccurence-pattern (ex. 10 daily recurrence) and create 10 appointments in the database with a flag that they belong to a 'reccurence' and a relations-table for this recurrende (say rec 1).
But how Looks the structure i must build, if i create my appointment-collection from the database?
I never load all appointments, so I mostly don't load the root appointment!
What is the best way to use the Recurrence2003 Dialog with all the work infragistcs allready done?
Should i sign each appointment-recurence as variance?
Thank you for posting in our forums!
Why do you need to store the recurrences in such a way? The WinSchedule was designed to store the recurrences of an appointment as a recurrence, not as individual appointments.
To get this to work the way you are asking would require a lot of work to assemble and disassemble the recurrences when they are loaded. I am not even sure this is possible to correctly handle. As you suggest, using a variance of the recurrences may be the best way as this creates appointments for any modified recurrences. For the dialog to work with these, you would still require the root appointment to be loaded, so you may need to make a special case for those.
If you have any further questions or concerns with this, please let me know and I will be glad to help.
i store appointments in the database and an other process Need this 'dates' to generate a Report where the appointments are 'non production time' like Holidays, Maintenance, planned stops and so on. This is in relation to 'Stop Time' of the production (missing material, machine error and so on) stored in the database via Messages of the machines --> result is the available time minus the 'planned non production time' (my appointments) in relation to the 'error-time. I want to use the 'reccurences' as a Kind of 'appointment-generator' (for ex. store the same maintenance appointment with the pattern 'each first Monday in month for the next 24 month).
For 'inserting' I think i look if the appointment and the recurrence is new, catch the 'OK' Button of the Dialog and use the 'pattern' in the reccurence-object to create the new appointments in the database and load the appointment-dataset for the 'CalenderInfo new.
With my 'Flag' in the 'DataKey' i know if a selected appointmen is part of a reccurence and in my own Dialog i ask to handle the appointment alone (and delete it from the 'Timeseries') and open the 'Appointment-Dialog with the selected appointment or should i Change the series and open the 'Reccurrence-Dialog'. But here i miss some info how to fake a appointment as a real reccurring appointment. With other words what is the best way to store a 'reccurerence-pattern' in the database and i prefer to store each field (better to manipulate) instead of a 'byte-Array)?.
Sorry for my Long description and my attemp to use your control for things you not expected!
Firstly, to address your concerns of your posts being moderated, this is nothing to be worried about. We had to implement spam protection in the forums and the detection algorithm is a little aggressive. We still get to see your responses.
If you need only to create the appointments and not edit them in the future, you should be able to use the recurrence dialog to create the recurrences and then modify them as a variance to save each occurrence as individual appointments.
If you must edit the recurrences, you will need to have the Root appointment loaded. Since this seems out of the scope of developer support and for an older version of the controls, I would also recommend downloading and inspecting our source code for this version. This could help shed some light on how you could "fake" the appointments.
If you need any further information, please let me know.
thanks for your fast reply; i don't used the Forum for a longer time and was wondering, why the System think i ' only make some noise. As i wrote, i understand, that the component was build with an other Intention. And i know that if i want to use it my way; it's not so easy. And i also used the source to understand what's going on and how to cheat the component.
But if you take a look at the source; man that's a lot of files and code and so on. Do you have any tip, which files promise the most insights??Or a hint what method create the appointments for the calenderInfo collection from a reccurrence?
Thanks for help
I think the best course you could take is to actually compile our source code. This would allow you to stick breakpoints in it and debug along to follow the code's flow.
After taking a quick look at our code, I would probably start by placing a breakpoint somewhere in the Appointment's constructor. That way I could see where each instance of an Appointment is actually created.
