Hi,
1. How can I change the color of the combobox button shown as part of toolbar. I was able to set normal color property of the taxt "ComboBox" in the menu but the color of the combobox button remains same.
2. How to change checkbox "checked" state to show checkmark instead of "x"?

I'm not sure of the distinction you are making here. It looks like you are referring to a ComboBoxTool in DropDownList style, rather than the normal DropDown style.
I took a look in AppStylist and it looks like there is no DropDownList-Style ComboBox on the Toolbars canvas. So this is a good scenario to use the AppStylistRunTime. That way you can simply mouse over the ComboBox in your real application and get the appropriate UIRole to change.

In order to know how to remove it, you have to figure out where it's coming from. The Office2007blue.isl doesn't do this. So what style library are you using that is making your checkboxes into X's? My guess is that it's probably done using the GlyphInfo on the UltraCheckEditor ComponentRole.
1. VS2008.isl has ToolBarItemCombobox on toolbar canvas.
2. Checkbox with 'X" it's in RedPlanet.isl. CheckBoxGlypInfo is not set to anything for UltraCheckEditor ComponentRole.

It looks like you can't change the appearance of the Combo in the default style. I think what you have to do is go the UltraToolbarsManager component role. Just mouse over the ComboBox and press the letter 'C'. Then you can set the Style to something other than the default and this will change the style of the toolbar to a different style that allows you to change the combo.

It looks like the Glyphs are applied to all components. So you need to change it under:
Component Role Settings ---> All Components.
