Hi,
I'm using NetAdvantage 10.2 build 2151. I'm trying to limit the caption so it doesn't wrap the text. I noticed there's a CaptionAppearance.TextTrimming property, but setting it to EllipsisWord or any other ellipsis setting doesn't seem to do anything. How do I accomplish this with the caption and show an ellipsis?
I also have the same issue with the Text of the desktop alert. I'd like to limit this to 2 or 3 lines max and show an ellipsis. There is a TextAppearance.TextTrimming property, but setting that doesn't have any affect either.
Any suggestions?
thanks
Mario
Hello Mario,
Could you please review the sample attached to this post and see if it meets your requirements. Please feel free to let me know if I misunderstood you or if you have any other questions.
Hi Boris,
I didn't see any attached sample.
Sorry for the confusion. Please take a look now.
Not exactly. I see the key is setting the desktop alert to a fixed size in order to get it to use the TextTrimming. I have attached a modified sample (using v10.2). I still want the alert to be the default size, but I want the caption to be one line and I want to restrict the text to only a couple lines. You'll see from my sample that is not happening and the text portion is wrapping multiple lines.
This is because the component is not being limited in any way. The limitation I am using is this 'FixedSize'. If it does not suit your needs I could log a new product idea for restricting the lines in 'Caption' and 'Text'.
That would be a good thing. I would like to see the TextTrimming work regardless of the size of the alert - even if it's the default. It doesn't help me now though. Is there a FixedSize that it must at least be in order for the TextTrimming to work? I tried setting it to 275, 80 and it still didn't work.
I did find an example using a CreationFilter that I'm going to try. It shows restricting the lines in the filter.
