Hello,
I use the methods "SaveCustomizations" and "LoadCustomizations" to Save and Load the state of the pivotgrid.
Naturally, sometimes the members in the dimensions change in the meantime, which results in those new members being selected since the filtermembers are saved as negatives (NonSelectedFilterMembers).
Is there any way (external or via reflection) to change the behaviour so that the pivotgrid saves positives (speak: selectedMembers)?
Thanks
Hello dclause,
Thank you for contacting Infragistics. Please clarify what you wish to do while a load customization is triggered, as it is a bit unclear what you want to achieve.
Let me know if you have any additional questions regarding this matter.
Hello Michael,
We want to achieve that the pivotgrid does restore the previous saved state without selecting new members of the dimension.
The control now saves all non selected members and restores them by deselecting those - We would like the grid to handle it the opposite way.
Example:
Our dimension contains 10 members:
Member1,
Member2,
Member3,
[...],
Member10
We select members 1 and 2 and save the state of the pivotgrid (using "SaveCustomizations"). The saved data looks as follows:
<NonSeletedMembers>
<Member3/>
<Member4/>
<Member5/>
<Member6/>
<Member7/>
<Member8/>
<Member9/>
<Member10/>
</NonSelectedMembers>
Now we refresh our cube and the according dimension now has 11 (!) Members. If we now try to restore the state of the grid (via "LoadCustomizations"), the following members will be selected:
Member1
Member2
Member11 (Because it's not on the list of nonselected members since it didn't exist by the time the state of the pivotgrid was saved).
If the grid would save selectedmembers in this form:
<selectedMembers>
<Member1/>
<Member2/>
</selectedMembers>
the control would correctly restore the previous saved state, even if there were new members added to the dimension in the meantime.
We were wondering if there was some sort of switch (external or internal) that defines how the "savecustomizations" and "loadcustomizations" save the selected/nonselected filter members.
BR
Daniel
Hello Daniel,
Thank you for following up and clarifying your question. I didn't find a built-in way to uncheck selected filter members, since they're automatically selected. I am currently researching for a viable approach and I will follow up on Monday.
Let me know if you have any questions regarding this matter.
I am following up to inform you that reversing the filter member behavior is considered to be a new product idea.
You can suggest new product ideas for future versions (or vote for existing ones) at <http://ideas.infragistics.com>.
There are many benefits to submitting a product idea:
Direct communication with our product management team regarding your product idea.Notifications whenever new information regarding your idea becomes available.Ability to vote on your favorite product ideas to let us know which ones are the most important to you. You will have ten votes for this and can change which ideas you are voting for at any time.Allow you to shape the future of our products by requesting new controls and products altogether.You and other developers can discuss existing product ideas with members of our Product Management team.
Steps to create your idea:
1. Log into the Infragistics Product Idea site at http://ideas.infragistics.com (creating a new login if needed).
2. Navigate to the product / platform channel of your choice (e.g. WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, HTML5 / Ignite UI, iOS / NucliOS, etc.)
3. Add your product idea and be sure to be specific and provide as much detail as possible.
- Explain the context in which a feature would be used, why it is needed, why it can't be accomplished today, and who would benefit from it. You can even add screenshots to build a stronger case. Remember that for your suggestion to be successful, you need other members of the community to vote for it. Be convincing!
- Include a link to this thread in your idea so product management will be able to look back at this case.
The Product Idea site puts you in the driver's seat and allows you to track the progress of your ideas at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.
This isn't a new product idea, we just want the control to work as expected.
To be clear: I'm not talking about inverting the current selected members, I'm talking about fixing the "SaveCustomizations" and "LoadCustomizations"-Methods so that they do what they're supposed to: Load/Save the state of the pivot control.
As I explained earlier, this doesn't work with cubes with changing dimension members (speak: cubes that are used in a real world scenario) because of the way it saves selected members - Every new member will automatically be selected which leads to wrong figures.
