XamDataChart what determines whether an ellipse is displayed instead of the full text value?

In the attached screenshot text Velocity is shown as Velo... while Market Making is display as is.

What determines when to apply an ellipse to the text value?

Also observed is that when I used the Zoombar, when Zoom to a horizontal value of 0.2371 all text labels are display without any ellipse.

Thank you for contacting Infragistics.

I reproduced a similar issue in our latest volume, 18.1 where the ellipsis would appear when scrolling the chart horizontally with an Extent applied. However the issue only presented itself when the label in question was last (to the right) and all other labels preceding it were out of scope and zoomed out.

I built a sample, see below to isolate this behavior. When you run the sample you will see several labels.

eg. Velocity (first label to the left) and Market Making (second label to the right). Velocity always appears in full. When you drag the right-end of the scrollbar (left) to zoom the chart, Market Making will appear cut off as soon as RUS is off screen.

I logged a development issue for our team to review, 255594. I also created a private support case to follow up with you CAS-197028-V4W3D1. You can access this case here after signing into your Infragistics account.

Please review my sample, if you can isolate the issue you've described similar to your end than how I've explained please modify and it and send the sample back to me with instructions.

Also, I recommend testing with 18.1 for several reasons listed below as we no longer support or maintain 16.1. You can acquire a trial version of 18.1 on our website.

Since 16.1 we've fixed numerous issues, and I've compared my sample in 16.1 and a 18.1.

In 18.1 scrolling is smoother and the labels appear flush near to the axis, as they're supposed to appear.

In 16.1, the labels tend to cause issues when the Extent property applied. Also a negative angles for labels can cause issues.

Hello,

I just wanted to follow up that we addressed the issue. However, as seen in the sample, I attached, "Market Making" now always appears as "Market Ma..." no matter what zoom level. It will never show entirely as before because it cannot actually fit. We adjusted the internal collision detection so it applies to ever label respectfully. This should address the inconsistency you've encountered and you will start seeing ellipsis when applicable.

Hi Michael,

We are still in the process of upgrading to 18.1, in the past we would would receive 2 NuGet archive packages, 1 with version # and the other version free, now are only get NuGet version free package. Do you know why this is the case? We have a support case open requesting this CAS-197834-Y7J9C7.

We are requesting the NuGet packages with the version #.

Hello Michael,

Versioned NuGet packages are no longer provided by the Infragistics for WPF product. This was discontinued in version 2016.2 when we began consideration of an online licensed NuGet feed. To keep the names of the NuGet packages consistent between the online NuGet feed and the offline ones for the purposes of making upgrading much simpler, we discontinued the versioned NuGet packages.
