I'm trying to use the xamdatagrid option but when creating a new datasource I should have a choice in the dropdown for xamdatagrid which I don`t and then I should have the choice either in the customize window! I just created a new project WPF framework.4.72 on an SQL database! I also tried it on a local access database!
I'm new to Infragistics and am looking at the "Adding a Data Grid in WPF" tutorial!
However I do see the xamdatagrid in the toolbox.

Hello Pete,
I have been investigating into the behavior you are reporting, and it appears that either something changed with the Visual Studio designers or perhaps the “Adding a DataGrid in WPF” tutorial you are referencing is leaving something out.
What I feel could be the thing that is left out in this case is the need to add the assemblies to the references of your project prior to trying to assign the XamDataGrid to the data source. For reference, these assemblies are:
InfragisticsWPF4.DataPresenter.v19.2 InfragisticsWPF4.Editors.v19.2 InfragisticsWPF4.v19.2
After doing this, I was able to see the XamDataGrid as well as the other types within these assemblies in the “Customize” menu.
It is worth noting that the tutorial you are referencing also was posted in 2013, and may be out of date. Going forward, you may do better with our online documentation, here: https://www.infragistics.com/help/wpf/xamdatagrid.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns on this matter.
I verified the installed references and they all seem to be there!
Still no sign of xamdatagrid! We were really hoping to add the xamdatagrid with no code as the example tutorial shows, but as you said it dates back to 2013!
From the references you have included, it appears that you are likely either using the VersionFree assemblies or potentially using NuGet. Neither of these assembly types have a designer experience. For example, if you were to add a XamDataGrid to your WPF Window via the designer, I would expect you would see the “versioned” assemblies automatically added, as that is what the .design assemblies are targeted against.
I also have tried with NuGet and the Version Free assemblies, and I am unable to see the XamDataGrid as an option, but I can with the versioned assemblies. As such, I would recommend adding the versioned assemblies in order to do this.
Thanks , that did it! I removed the nuget packages and added a xamdatagrid from the toolbox and the correct VERSION references showed up! Works great now although I found it odd to have to add the references that way!
