If I create a half-moon sized gauge in a larger rectangular view, the gauge only occupies the top 1/2 of the view because the other half of the gauge doesn't exist. Is there a way for a gauge of this size to use all of the given space?
Setting centerY and radiusMultiplier can give me the effect I'm looking for, but it definitely evokes code smell.

Thats correct, the centerX and centerY properties are there exactly for that purpose. We even have a sample in our samples browser under gauges called Alignment that shows how they're used.
The entire gauge is actually based on the radius. You can move ranges, scales, labels, etc.. And no matter what size you change your gauge to, it will scale down properly to fit it's container.

Is there a way to offset the center point so you can indent the center away from the edge? Even the NucliOS sample browser has the needle half hanging off the page. It would be nice if you could set a CGPoint offset.
There is some magic math someone will have to code to get a "best fit" for a non-square gauge for arbitrary superview sizes. A centered full-circle gauge that lives in a square will fit itself anywhere, just put it in the space and boom, it scales beautifully. But as soon as you make a half moon gauge and want it to scale to fit... things become difficult. Do you have any suggestions for making a half-moon gauge scale to fit without resorting to the magic numbers?
I thought I could outsmart it... but I was wrong. The view still clips to bounds. Any way to turn that off? I tried setting it on all my views and the gauge itself and it didn't make a difference in clipping.

I'm using auto layout to control the size of the views. It's working great. One thing, what about the hanging part of the bulb below? It's still cut off slightly. I've tried various values for the divisor and no dice.
Hmm, ok, i did notice that if you use the fitted backingShape, that you can wind up clipping that. Basically the fitted part of the backing shape always takes up .25 so you can modify the code i sent you to this:
_gauge.needlePivotWidthRatio = .2;
_gauge.centerY = 1 - (MAX(.25,(_gauge.needlePivotWidthRatio))/4);
Note, you definitely need to set the needlePivotWidthRatio to something, b/c otherwise it defaults to nan, and that calculation won't really do anything.
