Tried to install IG for WinForms 2012 Volume 2 from the package that includes Help and Samples. Everything worked fine except that the help did not install, the installer identified an error. Here's what's in the log file:
Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.
I tried to install help on its own using the help MSI file. Same issue. This happens on two closed networks, one running Win XP one Vista, so it's not easy for me to report any other info from the log file.
Thoughts?
Hello stevenmilz,
Can you please provide me with the entire log file to further investigate the issue. In the meantime, I have found that the following has helped.
First you should check if the store location of the help content is set properly. It is available through the Help Viewer. Then if the issue still occurs, you can modify the default value of the registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MS-XHelp\shell\open\command.
Change the value “default value” to include a %1 at the end so it looks like this (your path may be different):
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Help Viewer\v1.0\HelpLibAgent.exe" %1
You can also repair or reinstall Help Viewer by opening the Windows Explorer and browse to the path "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Help Viewer\v1.0\Microsoft Help Viewer 1.1\". Double-click on install.exe, select Repair, and click Next.( http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/8969a388-c801-49e6-b06e-0adec3f6bb46/ )
The default value for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MS-XHelp\shell\open\command is already "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Help Viewer\v1.0\HelpLibAgent.exe" %1.
Repairing Help Viewer didn't help.
As I mentioned in the initial post, this is on a disconnected, classified network. I cannot copy the entire log file from that network to post here.
Any other ideas?
