Investing in Silverlight
We are excited about the Silverlight platform as the next-generation Web user interface, and here at Infragistics we have already become deeply involved with our Silverlight development. There are going to be a number of key wins driving adoption of Silverlight for future Web application development, and we have been exploring how to best offer controls and tooling that complements what Microsoft provides in the box. We wanted to show you a first glimpse of what's sure to change the way you think about Web development, so our Infragistics Labs team has made our line-of-business, enterprise mashup that we call faceOut.
FaceOut - Rich Internet Sales Dashboard
Infragistics' faceOut is an interactive demonstration of our NetAdvantage for Silverlight preview controls. Using our chart, gauge, and enhanced scroll panel, we've created a salesperson dashboard to illustrate how you can build a richer experience on the Web for a real, line-of-business scenario. We've taken this concept a step farther by creating an enterprise mashup using representative enterprise sales data along with Windows Live Maps and the Live Contacts schema to show how you can integrate your corporate data with services provided on the internet to bring you a business-driven mashup experience.

Experience faceOut Now
FaceOut was built on Microsoft's new Silverlight 2 technology. If you are running Silverlight 1.0, it will require an update, but the update should not affect your ability to use existing 1.0-based sites and applications.

Rich Line of Business
Infragistics understands Web 2.0, social networking, the semantic Web, mashups, and all the fun stuff that the Web brings. At the end of the day, though, businesses are still left trying to make sense of all the hype and fun and how to relate that back to what they do every day to keep their businesses running ever more efficiently. We call that line of business (LOB), and we're committed to bringing Silverlight to LOB.
Infragistics will take advantage of the full platform capabilities as we develop our value-added controls and components for Silverlight to continue to help drive business value and enhance user experience and productivity.
Rich Data Visualization
One of the key ways in which Silverlight advances Web application development will be in data visualization. Infragistics already has been working on this, as evidenced by our Silverlight chart, map, and gauge prototypes that you can see and download in our faceOut sample.
We will continue to build out our library of charts and gauges while we push the envelope of what is possible on the Silverlight platform. Our goal is to provide rich and deeply meaningful visualizations that empower your business to make the crucial decisions necessary in a fast-moving global market.
Rich Interactive Applications
We are actively exploring potential controls that will have:
- Relevance. Controls must not be just about glitz — they need to be focused on the real-world application development scenarios you face everyday.
- High Fidelity. Controls must take full advantage of the UI richness the Silverlight platform affords us.
- Interoperability. Controls must provide appropriate interoperability between ASP.NET and Aikido™, and vice-versa.
We Wrote The Book
With an abundance of knowledge and experience in Silverlight, Web Development and Visual Design, it's no wonder four of our stars got together to pen such a fine Silverlight 1.0 book published by Wrox. Now you have the opportunity to share in some of their Silverlight design and development secrets, as the book has done a masterful job of explaining how to work with Silverlight 1.0, from scripting the control host to declaring your user interface in XAML to using the features of Microsoft® Expression Blend™ 2.0 to make more compelling user experiences. It's a veritable grimoire of knowledge that will put the next generation of Rich Interactive Applications (RIAs) at your fingertips.
From rich data visualizations to high fidelity presentation, from relevant controls to smooth interoperability, we're working to ensure that you receive tremendous business value out of the Silverlight platform.
