I have a XAMGrid that is bound to data that is read only from the users perspective. But changes come over the network. I notice that when a column that is grouped changes the row is not moved to the correct GroupByRow. I know this isn't supposed to happen automatically, but how do get that row to go where it belongs. Calling InvalidateData() on the grid works but causes performance problems (as well as UI problems with the expanded state of ros) so I need to do it on a row by row basis.

Thank you for contacting Infragistics. I have been looking into your issue and currently this is the design behavior of the XamGrid control and the invoking of the ‘InvalidateData’ method is the only approach to reorder the rows correctly when the underlying data is updated.
I can suggest you try our XamDataGrid control where the records do no collapsed when trying to reorder them using ‘RefreshSortPositon’ method like e.g.:

In order to implement a similar behavior in our XamGrid my suggestion is to submit a new product idea at <http://ideas.infragistics.com>.
There are many benefits to submitting a product idea:

Steps to create your idea:
1. Log into the Infragistics Product Idea site at http://ideas.infragistics.com (creating a new login if needed).
2. Navigate to the product / platform channel of your choice (e.g. WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, HTML5 / Ignite UI, iOS / NucliOS, etc.)
3. Add your product idea and be sure to be specific and provide as much detail as possible.
Explain the context in which a feature would be used, why it is needed, why it can’t be accomplished today, and who would benefit from it. You can even add screenshots to build a stronger case. Remember that for your suggestion to be successful, you need other members of the community to vote for it. Be convincing!
Include a link to this thread in your idea so product management will be able to look back at this case.
The Product Idea site puts you in the driver’s seat and allows you to track the progress of your ideas at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.

Unfortunately using the XAMDataGrid is not an option for me as I am using features that it does not support. Is there any way for me to hook into the grouping engine and supply my own implementation? Like a class i could derive from?
Which features are you using that the xamDataGrid does not have?
I use conditional formatting and Grouped Columns. There are probably others.
The xamDataGrid has conditional formatting and column stacking, just not column grouping. Would you mind emailing me about the features that you use in the xamGrid? blagunas@infragistics.com
