1) Is there a way specifically to turn off the BOLD pattern matching when filtering the data? Or there a specific template that I can override in order to maintain the 'normal' look.
2) I am binding to two fields (Code and Description) in the drop-down -> I'd like the filter to work from the CODE but bind to the DESCRIPTION (it's a training app). I've tried several renditions of this including a Custom filter. Am I missing something obvious.
Thanks in advance.
Hello Andrew,
Thank you for your post. I have been looking into your first question and the text bolding and the grey brush are defined in the source code of the control and you are not able to access it directly in XAML or in code-behind. This requirement has been determined to be a new product idea. You can suggest new product ideas for future versions (or vote for existing ones) at <http://ideas.infragistics.com>.
There are many benefits to submitting an product idea:
- Direct communication with our product management team regarding your product idea.
- Notifications whenever new information regarding your idea becomes available.
- Ability to vote on your favorite product ideas to let us know which ones are the most important to you. You will have ten votes for this and can change which ideas you are voting for at any time.
- Allow you to shape the future of our products by requesting new controls and products altogether.
- You and other developers can discuss existing product ideas with members of our Product Management team.
Steps to create your idea:
The Product Idea site puts you in the driver’s seat and allows you to track the progress of your ideas at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.
Regarding your second question could you please provide me with some more details on how exactly the XamMultiColumnComboEditor should behave? Only ‘Description’ should appear in the dropdown but the filtering should be executed for your ‘Code’ property?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
I can probably live without the customization at this point (though it doesn't really match our current styling). I suspect it would be a useful feature for most - and it appears that someone else already requested it.
Regarding my previous question -> I've since upgraded to 14.1 and that does permit me to "stack" filters CodeColumn::"Starts With" & Description :: "Contains" (as opposed to a custom Linq expression from the viewmodel); . The filtering works as expected however the corresponding highlighting adornment bolds and highlights the filter text regardless of where it is filtered from. (I can most likely 'explain' that away - though the visual cue is confusing as it appears to the end-user that we are doing a CONTAINS select on CODE if it happens to contain some of the same characters as the Description)
My most recent issue is regarding the CustomValueEnterAction property being set to "ALLOW".
We basically allow the end-user to enter a code that might not exist within the list - and we validate based on the allowable length.
This generally works for entry - though navigating through the form - basically tabbing into and out of the control has some inconsistent behaviors:
A Selected Index Out-Of-Range -> coming deep within the control (especially when re-editing the text)
Automatically selecting "something" from the list (on Tab or Enter navigation) which unfortunately alters a valid datafill entry
Blanking out the text value - again, altering a valid datfill entry.
I have recreated the issue from the Sample applications that installed with the controls and have included the screenshot with the stack trace.
Steps to recreate: Enter a text value into the control, navigate away, navigate back into, navigate away - expect one of those three things. A speedy response would be appreciated as we are close to abandoning this endeavor in favor of an alternative solution. Looking forward to hearing from you.
