Hello,
according to the online docuemtation, explorerbaritem's property target can be set to an iframe tag which works. Is this also possible to set target to a "object" tag instead? I'm asking because my webpage is of standard XHTML 1.1 which does not allow frames.
Yours
Stephan
Hi Stephan,
the explorer bar item target property renders a target="" attribute to the item anchor (A) tag. Since it is a string property you can put there whatever you like and it will work if the A tag supports it. You can check the following link for more info: http://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/att_a_target.asp
Hello Lubimor,
thanks for your answer and your link to the w3schools.com which you and your colleagues are often using but sometimes in a wrong context.
Have you really considered my restriction and tested yourself what you have written? If you have considered XHTML 1. 1 (this was my restriction of my question by good reasons) and not XHTML transition what you are using, "target" is not allowed in XHTML 1.1. This is explained on your mentioned w3schools. So it does not really help if WebExplorerBar is rendering in attribute "target".I assume your answer should be: XHTML 1.1 is not really supported, I should use XHTML 1.0 Transition / Frameset or HTML 4.01 transition instead. May I correct?

Hello Stephan,
It could be the case to use those standards check that out : http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/2004/xhtml-faq#target
Also another way to go might be to use javascript instead the target object for XHTML 1.1 Strict doctype.

Hope that helps out.
Let me know if you have any questions with this matter.
Thanks,
