I would like to show the expanded weggrid all the time and don't want users to collapse it. I have the parent header and rowselector working fine. How to I get rid of the left blue bar ( looking for the style element) for the children rows.

The 'left blue bar' as seen in your screen image is part of HeaderStyleDefault. By setting the BackColor you can change the color of the 'blue bar' but this property also drives the color of the 'left bar' and header for the parent and children alike.
You can differentiate the elements of the grid that need to be styled in css by using the IE Developer Toolbar to identify the relevant css classes. In theory once you identify the css classes you then customize your styling of the grid.
