When the WebDataGrid is displayed, I know if you double-click in the first column displayed (which contains all blanks) it will bring up the Edit Record template. Is there any way to put a button or an image or something in that cell so that it's more obvious to a user that you need to click in it in order to edit the record?

Please have a look at the following article. It explains how to place Edit and Delete buttons on each row. Clicking on Edit will cause the corresponding row to enter edit mode.
