Create custom color palette
posted

I've been looking into the Infragisitics Controls for WPF and have a question about creating a custom color palette for use in developing my application. I've played with the default themes and the Resource Washer and Color Tuner but these are only moderately useful to globally tint an existing themes color palette. I've seen several examples on the Infragistics website where applications use custom palettes but as far as tell the only way to create a custom palette is by manually editing multiple XAML files, on a control by control basis.

Other WPF development companies offer ways to create custom palettes using WYSIWYG software tools so that the palettes can be updated from one set of variables inserted into the code.

I'm just checking that I'm not selling Infragistics short because I missed some capabilities. Do I have that right? There are no WYSIWYG tools to create theme palettes?

    Hello Bart,

The Color Tuner is a Visual Studio extension that allows you to set the color of a theme using the functionality that the Resource Washer provides so you can change the original color of a resource by specifying a new color and specifying the color transformation by setting the WashMode.

You can suggest the support of a single set of variables defined in Xaml for creating a custom color palette as a new product idea for future versions at http://ideas.infragistics.com.

Submitting your idea will allow you to communicate directly with our product management team, track the progress of your idea at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.

Remember when submitting your idea to explain the context in which a feature would be used and why it is needed as well as anything that would prevent you from accomplishing this today. You can even add screenshots to build a stronger case. Remember that for your suggestion to be successful, you need other members of the community to vote for it. You can also link back to this thread for additional details.

Thank you in advance to submitting your product idea.
